Moong Appe

मूंग अप्पे तैयार करने की सामग्री और विधि।

Ingredients and Method to prepare a healthy Moong Appe.

3. Eno 1/4 tsp
4. Butter To Grease
5. Salt To Taste

Instructions:

  1. Soak & Rinse Moong Dal: Soak moong dal overnight. In the morning, rinse it thoroughly with fresh water.
  2. Grind Ingredients: Coarsely grind the soaked moong dal along with cumin seeds, turmeric powder, green chili, and asafoetida. Add a little water to achieve a thick batter consistency.
  3. Add Vegetables: Mix in chopped onions, grated carrot, and any other desired vegetables. If using rava, lightly roast it and add to the batter for crispier appe.
  4. Adjust Consistency: Add a small amount of water if needed to maintain a thick yet pourable batter consistency.
  5. Add Eno: Just before cooking, add eno or baking soda to the batter and mix gently.
  6. Prepare Appe Pan: Grease the cavities of the appe pan with oil or butter.
  7. Cook the Appe: Pour a ladleful of batter into each cavity of the pan. Cover and cook for 2-3 minutes on medium heat until the bottom turns golden brown.
  8. Flip and Cook: Carefully flip each appe using a spoon and cook for another minute until both sides are golden and crisp.
  9. Serve: Serve hot with coconut chutney or sambar.

Tips:

  • For Crispier Appe: Lightly roast the rava before adding it to the batter.
  • Variations: You can add grated cheese or chopped coriander leaves to the batter for more flavor.
