Daal Paratha

दाल परांठा तैयार करने की सामग्री और विधि।

Ingredients and Method to prepare a healthy Dal Paratha.

1. Moong Dal 30g
2. Wheat flour 30g
3. Heeng 1 pinch
4. Salt To Taste
5. Red Chilli Powder To Taste
6. Butter / Ghee 5 ml

Instructions:

  1. Soak Dal: Soak 1 cup of moong dal in water overnight.
  2. Drain Dal: In the morning, drain the water from the dal.
  3. Prepare Dal Filling:
    • Heat 2 teaspoons of oil in a kadahi (pan) over medium heat.
    • Add a pinch of hing (asafoetida) and cumin seeds. Allow them to splutter.
    • Add the soaked and drained dal, followed by spices: turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt.
    • Stir well and cook the dal for about 5 minutes until the mixture becomes dry and fragrant.
    • Set aside and let it cool completely.
  4. Prepare Dough:
    • In a separate bowl, take 1 cup of wheat flour and knead it into a soft dough using water as required. Cover the dough and let it rest for 10-15 minutes.
  5. Stuff the Paratha:
    • Take a small portion of the dough and roll it into a ball.
    • Flatten the ball and place 1-2 tablespoons of the cooled dal mixture in the center.
    • Carefully bring the edges of the dough together to seal the filling inside.
  6. Roll the Paratha:
    • Dust the stuffed dough ball with some dry flour and roll it out gently into an even paratha (about 6-7 inches in diameter).
  7. Cook the Paratha:
    • Heat a tawa (griddle) over medium heat. Place the rolled paratha on the hot tawa.
    • Cook the paratha on both sides, applying ghee or oil, until golden brown and crisp.
  8. Serve: Serve the dal paratha hot with yogurt, pickle, or chutney of your choice.
